I think house hacking is a great strategy to lower ones expenses while paying down mortgage debt and that it works well in an appreciating market allowing the owner to sell the home in a couple of years without paying taxes all while stockpiling savings from the rents of the tenants.

You need to have a stockpile of them so you can rotate them out once they start to get all smelly and gross.I don't use "financial independence" as a why.
