Another remedy that I read about was using commercial grade vinegar 15% , it is acidic and will kill the bamboo , but it cost $ 600 per 55 gallons .

Tenant may be able to keep drains clean and clear with regular maintenance by pouring down the drain a quarter cup of baking soda followed by a half cup of vinegar.

Good advice from others here, I would also add....Use white vinegar to clean up the wood, as it will kill the mold spores in porous surfaces such as wood and will also deodorize it.
