You can't really say the guy who is good in physics vs. analog design vs digital design vs programming vs material fabrication vs mechanical production is doing something easier or harder.

It's not fun, but it can be done.If you can't get it by yourself, a good metal fabricator should certainly be able to do it for you.

I would fabricate a hardwood nosing such that the surface of the tile comes out flush with the surface of the nosing, and stained to match tile.

It's bound to be pricey, plus there's not much slope, and we sometimes get quite a bit of snow. i know there's some amazing teflon fabric stuff being used in big construction but it doesn't seem to have gotten to the consumer market yet.
