Vacations, dinners, nice clothes, gifts for the wife, sports for the kids, nights out with the boys etc....and for this reason, i would rather buy mortgage  points as a way to reduce my payment rather than make a larger down payment for my home.

Fayetteville has a larger military population ~55,000 vs ~39,000, Fort Bragg also sports the largest % of military population interwoven with civilians last I checked it was roughly 55% living off post.
