In the latter (West Van), I'd say you have nothing to worry about walking neighborhoods alone; in the former (that part of East Van), I'd suggest anyone (especially new to the area) would want a second pair of eyes to "watch their back".Same likely applies to lots of different areas of "Detroit"; some are bound to be great/safe/beautiful whilst others will be more "war zone" style - can't lump it all in to the same bucket :)As far as the airport itself though, can't imagine why it'd be a problem (I can't imagine any major US airport being a problem given how much law enforcement presence there is at all of them) - having flown there myself, it's plenty safe and fine with just the usual airport stuff to watch out for (folks who aren't authorized to provide taxi services trying to solicit in terminal for example or what not else).

Banks are open on the weekends, as are various places you can get money orders, however, real estate contracts generally have a place where you can commit to putting an EMD at the title or escrow company within X days, to account for weekends or holidays or what not.

The situation is pretty bad:- the city keeps issuing fine over fine for things like grass or "tire in the driveway" or what not like there's a cash pinada- she didn't have one tenant in the past 3 years, not even Sect 8 wants to rent there- paying taxes and insurance and what not. all current though.- it's not a drug zone but just a bad patch with unemployed peeps doing nothing productive so to speakShe wants out, really bad, ready to write off the loss just to stop losing more money every month.

Typical rent for single room is $500 and for families anywhere between $1100 and $1800 depending on rooms and bathrooms and whatnot.
