From my experience as an ex financial planner, having dealt with many family related partnerships and business ventures, it is better to work out the divorce process before the event when you are all still friends than after the event when you are potential enemies.

Hi All,Can anyone recommend a great tax planner/tax preparer who understands rental property, 1031 exchanges, etc as well as general overall tax knowledge?

If you're looking to possibly get hard numbers, I would recommend contacting @Albert Bui, he is a mortgage planner who I believe operates out of the South Puget Sound region and is used to working with investors.I would also look to get in contact with a good real estate agent, one who can help you start to figure out what you should pay for a given space.Cheers, and keep asking questions of the community!

I don't do real estate transactions without first consulting with my CPA/Financial Planner.

I'm curious if any note investors have spent the time cultivating relationships with financial planners or advisers in order to gain access to their pool of clients?

I am meeting my financial planner next week so in the mean time I wanted to see if anyone here has a good answer for me.

It's worth a face-to-face conversation with a city planner as to whether or not they'd even consider supporting your request.

Go down to the city planners dept and see what the city had permitted it to be.The additional unit may be unknown to them and therefore illegal until you can ask the city to grandfather it in as is or make the necessary safety changes to make it legal and insurable.
