In Cleveland we have a lot of doubles with shared porches as an entrance. 

I have more money than I have time and live in a market (Boulder, CO) that doesn't lend itself well now for investing.Turnkey real estate investing seems like the right entrance into REI for me.Question: What are some recommended locations?

In my limited experience opinion, the backyard cottage would need a "single family house feel" with separate yard, parking, and entrance to attract people who need two bedrooms versus single younger tenant who might not care so much about the "feeling" and only needs 1 bed. 

Sometimes you have to go around the building to the back entrance to make money. 

Entrance and exit refer to your cash/money...not you...you're just along for the ride.  

For the basement room you are renting out will it have its own separate entrance or will you have some common space? 

Hello,I'm in the process if trying to buy a home with a 1 bedroom in-law suite with private entrance.  

For example, ceiling fans in the master bedroom and family room, improving the curb appeal and the front entrance area, fresh paint, etc. 

He has a house and from what I understand it was converted to a duplex, Upstairs converted to an apartment with a seperate entrance, dual Electrical Box so they can pay for their own Electricity.

We would put some of the smokers poles outside 20 feet away so they would have a place to go and know its far enough away from the common entrance.
