Just starting out... how do you handle spouses fears?

So you have to understand that no matter how much you explain something they will never, ever understand. When you don't have that fire from within to do something great with your life and not just go through the motions then you won't get someone telling you how great it will be.All they will see is RISK,DANGER,RUN.When the checks come in your wife will be happy and tell the rest of the family off that is telling her to tell you her husband to get a JOB.Their badgering you soon turns to jealousy when they see you took a risk and are living the dream.Something they might have wanted but were too scared to take action on.I don't begrudge those types I will just not let them affect me or keep me from my goals.
