You will not get any cracks in your grout lines and my preference is larger sized rectified tiles which can be installed with 1/16 inch grout lines.

Every kitchen or apartment varies but on a recent job it was two upper 33x30's in the laundry room, 36" vanity + filler, 48" vanity plus filler, and a galley kitchen that was 112" long by 92" inch high and we did uppers and lowers for both sides.

If you have inches or feet of water (we had four feet when we were flooded), you'll have to remove sheetrock and insulation and the repairs are more extensive and time consuming.

Todays high capacity pump,,,fast dump washers will work on an inch and a half but things have to be perfect condition to do so. 2" is the 'modern' size to take the volume.
