Yes, tile demo sucks, but imo in the long run it's worth it to have a cleaner looking install and no tripping hazards.

I’ve been guilty of not always having a dumpster thinking I can fill up the regular trash can once a week… but I’m learning a simple Issue like trash is remedied by having one dumpster in the beginning for demo, another at the end for surplus product/ materials / waste.

I'd leave the tub, it looks fine - then just demo down to the studs, redo the tile (cement backer board, sealer, tile, grout, adhesive) and faucets/valve and move on with it ($200 in parts).
