You can't simply raise the rent on a Section 8 rental, but you can request the increase, show market rent, note improvements that have been done to the unit and property and can get increases beyond the threshold of local rent control.The amount of increase that they give does get determined by the Section 8 program, but it has allowed for more generous increases than what clients of mine would have been able to get with a standard tenant.
