Why would I choose a market I have a connection to though when those markets may be negative cash flow compared to markets that are thriving? 

And frankly, I think that most of our users are reasonably well-capitalized, have long-term debt locked in, have adequate reserves, did invest for cash flow, and will be able to weather the storm and thrive.

I have been investing with leverage (ie getting kind) since 1992 and still thriving in real estate.
