Check with the city/county - many are offering owners a sort of rebate for replacing the area that is currently lawn (or lawn overriden with weeds) with drought tolerant succulents and other xeric flora.If they don't offer any sort of rebate at all for doing it, I would still think GREEN:how does this property contribute to the neighborhood, is it easy on the eyes?

If it's "in town, I assume it's not 250 acres, but I bought 40 inside the city limits.If it's residential and there is no dwelling on the lot and there are no specific restrictions (like with an HOA) concerning what you can plant and can't, a garden would be fine I'm sure.
