Apparently this logic doesn't translate into landlording so much.  

So having a payment obligation a few hundred dollars less for a 30 vs. a 15 directly translates into more buying power on another property.But to be sure,  there is nothing irresponsible about getting a 15 year loan with an even lower rate, and paying it off faster.

The relentless torture of corporate IT work (to include the physical torture of sleep deprivation especially, getting paged awake for server alerts and process errors), drove it through my thick skull that that was not the life I wanted for myself.Unfortunately for me, initially I didn't translate that directly to financial freedom.

Eventually it will have equity and value that adds to your net worth which can translate into many different opportunities that will improve your position.

I'm very disciplined especially at negotiating deals and buying things "right" so I'm expecting those skills to translate to REI quite well.
