You are, however taking a huge risk by doing so.Of course I don't know your situation or much of anything about you, but my advice would be to do whatever you can to increase your income. ie, Side hustle, any sorts of training or apprenticeship programs or maybe get into a better career path.

In Massachusetts where I practice, the requirements include a lot of classroom, plus an apprenticeship.  

I thought about going through a home inspection course to understand what I am looking at when finding properties, and I wouldnt mind going through a rehab course or apprenticeship either (I have laid asphault before) in order to price out repairs and oversee contractors, eventually.

I agree with not joining an apprenticeship if you're aiming to become a gc.
