Giant fourplex old Victorian is going to need repairs consistently and your paying 16 bucks in taxes ?

I was in a technical role at a giant corporation for 7+ years, and I'm making the switch to real estate!

What a giant waste of money and effort.  

Other than a giant tank in the yard and having to have it filled every once and a while I don't remember there being any issues.

At the same time, the giant blue collar employer in town has closed.  

Appreciation as a function of leverage will have a giant impact on your return on cash.

@Jack YoungYou first need to find bank mortgage agents and a local mortgage broker  - you will need both as some of the banks do not provide brokers with the same access their in-house agents have - who truly understand investment properties  ... or who are new and willing to learn ... and, consequently, see the benefit of building a long-term relationship with an investor.My experience has been word of mouth is usually the way you find these folks ... most bank mortgage specialists and residential mortgage brokers bread and butter are financing pretty houses for Dick & Jane.
