You ultimately need to weigh the pros and cons.All I can say is that I have numerous clients who were insured by preferred carriers like Travelers, etc, and when they had claims for "x" amount, their annual premiums increased several thousand dollars; which they weren't happy about, but in the end, they had to stay where they were, because I couldn't find them anything cheaper with the claims on their loss runs (these are records of your claims filed are asked for by any carriers you want to be insured with in the future). 

There were boxes of stuff, new-ish appliances, and lots of cat carriers and cat food and bowls.

Once Certificate(s) of Insurance (COI) are secured from the contractor or service provider a quick phone call (or email, which I prefer as it creates a “paper trail”) to the carrier or Agent can confirm the coverage(s) are current and valid.

I will let you know that there are a lot of other insurance carriers who I feel are trying to find ways not to cover a loss.

Some Agents will be able to quote with different carriers themselves which will save you some calling around.Post back here with some details on the quotes you get and It will be easier to give more solid advice. 

Is your Ohio agent independent with access to multiple carriers? 

It was just passed two weeks ago so the carriers will still need to make the changes to their policy forms and submit them to the State for approval, all of which takes time.
