There's one specific reason this might be happening that I suspect most -- the way the shower pan was installed/built.

To be honest I want to have as many options available if this REI venture does not pan out the way I hope.

As that being said a lot of our supply has short life..We have to constantly replacing our pot and pans.

Not many people (from New England) will want to move into a used house (as beautifully rehabbed as it may be on the side) to live next to a tin can with garbage strewn all over. 

Some things like pots and pans just need to replaced every year from the use.Biggest thing would be if regulations changed in your area and STR's were prohibited.I have not had any significant issues with damage to my Vrbo.

Cleaning the air handler coils when dirty, changing filter, using A\C pan tabs, blowing out the drain line with shop vac and using chemicals to deter growth in drain lines all seem to help. 

I think there may even be a solid buy & hold strategy that could pan out in the long term. 

@Tin NacajYou are just kicking the can down the road if you eventually sell out of the 1031.

That will make it easier to figure out a pan for you.

1) what does your lease say2) what kind of condition is the house in (I recently had a tenant move out that complained of ants...upon move out I found excessive food splatter on the stove and unwashed roasting pans in the warming drawer of the oven).
