It's the horizontal movement.Unless it is an unreinforced masonry building, or the soil is subject to liquefaction, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I'll have to ask if it gets that far.I've already got a few masonry companies in my phone book. :-)

I find Buffalo and WNY helpful, but you might want to add Eden, masonry, or other keywords topical to you.

Drywall, paint, masonry, and landscaping are the front-runners in this.  

Consult a structural engineer, and get a good masonry contractor to do the repairs.

IMO, it's a fundamental mistake to paint masonry. 

I would put a masonry finish on the floor at the entries/exits at least 5 foot into the house from the door way.I greatly like the look of cherry compared to the older half of the house which is all white oak wood with a "golden oak" finish, but the oak is way more durable even with an extra 50 years of age on it!

It lists brick and masonry as a surface, but mentions not recommended for flooring, I believe, in terms of painting a wood floor or porch.
