Nearby refinery Suncor is still active and is in the news often for having malfunctions and releasing unsafe levels of the same gas once used to kill death row inmates (hydrogen cyanide) into the air, causing residents to “shelter in place”, as well as dumping waste into the South Platte.

Unlikely to be a vent issue unless there's an air admittance valve rather than a proper vent and it's malfunctioning.

We sold a property just as we found that both the washer & dryer were starting to malfunction & the dishwasher had to have been a '70's beta edition.Those 'helping them' to move removed the washer/dryer & old dishwasher, but left the newer fridge??
