Roof(flat membrane) was repaired 3 years ago due to a lighting strike. 

If it is a flat roof, use a white membrane, it will keep reflect the heat, save energy and last longer.

Used a denim underlayment on the bamboo and a roll-out membrane underlayment on the VLP.

., plus a few YouTube videos you might be able to self-roof the place.It's not Rocket Science.If it's tar or membrane it will probably take a professional to do it though.But if it's just shingles, many people do that themselves.Plus i'm surprised they made a loan with 4 layers of shingles, and in such bad shape (if they are shingles).Good Luck!

On flat roofs, commonly a foam iso board is installed and then the membrane over that.

If you tile, you would absolutely need an isolation membrane.

@Alyssa K.There is a product called redgard https://www.custombuildingproducts.com/products/surface-preparation/waterproofing-membranes-underlayments/redgard.aspx#This is used to seal walls before applying tile.
