Like with blueberries and raspberries, you need a lot of berries, with a few cups of sugar (less than you would with sure jell) and cook it for a while until it thickens when it cools.

But you can't even buy good fruit for any price, so it is worth it to me to have tree ripened delicate non-shippable varieties that are juicy and delicious-- like the fruit I remeber as a child and that no one has seen since then.I also grow raspberries, grapes, and blueberries, but they don't need any extra help.I'd love to put a greenhouse over the fruit trees.

Even asparagus and blueberries have to be maintained and fertilized (organic) to get commercial yields.

There are many breweries/wineries, and apple/cherry/blueberry picking in the area that pull in visitors, so there is more to do than then beach :)  Northern Michigan is great too because there's skiing and winter activities making it more of a year-round destination.
