I tried to look up your post you mentioned but you have so many threads here I wasn't sure which you were directing me to.anyway, I am in contact with a surveyor.. but waiting to sign the purchase agreement before I get the ball rolling. this property is in city limits and have been on contact with the planner. the 5 lots are within their parameters, this will have to be on city water and sewer.

You could then get a HELOC/LOC on that paid of property (a product that doesn't require you to use it) and then if you did have a big emergency you had a line to use on it.Now, ALL of this is dependent on how much money you have in the bank, how many properties you have, what your income will be like in retirement, what the standard age would be for your end of life (that's a scary one to think about), and while yes, you can certainly take equity out I just think it would be good to sit down with a financial planner...or even some other investors that are local to you that are around your age demographic and see what they are doing.I'm glad you are thinking about this for sure.

I don't think your planner was trying to steer you wrong but it's tough to empathize if you've never experienced owning a family business/real estate.

I do not think they regulate this strictly on other industries like food service, or even medical.Sounds like the mayor or city planner or someone "important" had a bad stay at a STR somewhere.
