It's not impossible to get insurance for an older building, but a lot of the insurance carrier do not go beyond 100 years old or prior to 1900.

About 10 years ago I was using RI Joint Reinsurance for flips (renovations), but a few other investors recommended National Real Estate Insurance Group (nreig.com) and I've continued to use them because their main focus is investors and they make it easy to add and remove properties.For long term buy and hold properties, I definitely know that there are many other insurance carriers besides RI Joint Reinsurance.
