The umbrella is ONLY liability insurance. If it burns down, and you only have umbrella policy, you don’t get $1....if you have umbrella plus homeowners and  your rental burns down, you don’t get $1...

If you only have landlord insurance a somebody is killed, paralyzed, badly burned and they sue for a Million dollars your landlord policy pays $100-300k depending on your limits, then they get the house, then they come after the rest from you.

You not have homeowners on your primary, you only have landlord on your rentals, you have umbrella on everything. (Usually all personal houses, rentals, cars and sometimes even watercraft and motorcycles must be named to be covered.)
