I am a highly specialized local investor and yes, the silver lining of a ghetto is where I look for my properties, but I couldn't in good conscience advise someone working OOS to go into these communities and have at it blind no matter how good the deals look on paper.Instead, the kind of safer and newer turnkeys someone at a distance should be looking for are most often well outside the city limits proper in highly-rated school districts or just over the county line.Of course, if you feel differently and suspect I might be talking out my butt to save the best deals for myself and my local colleagues, oh PLEASE, by all means, come-one-come-all and invest in my area!

I bought a few condo's up at Silver star in B/C back in 2000 and had I held them they would be pretty good vacation rentals.. with loonie low to us dollar I think I was in them in the 35k range and they were ski in ski out.
