That plan should entail renting portable heaters, possibly putting the tenant up in a hotel or being prepared to not receive rent from the tenant based on the property not being habitable.I just closed on an SFH rental here in NC that also had a 20-year-old HVAC system.

I've seen a few similar questions but no concrete answers.  Has anyone used a spare phone or mobile hotspot to provide wifi to a Simplisafe system to utilize the webcams?  The simplisafe system was super easy to setup...

For about $300 you can get a 12k btu portable heat pump that will do almost as well and be much easier to install granted they are a little bit noisier and I know the mini splits are probably more efficient.

Here is a 12k btu one that is supposed to operate below freezing for about $900:http://www.sogoodtobuy.com/12000-btu-mini-split-ai...These types of units are also supposed to be more efficient than central air anywayI've also had good luck with portable heat pumps in my own home but they are a little bit noisey compared to the mini splits but they are also about a third of the cost.

I have some questions I am hoping you can help me find an answer to: We were recently notified after having an inspection completed (requested by our new insurance provider – Northfield is the carrier) by our local insurance agent that per NFPA10 (actual underwriter’s terms used) we would have to provide portable fire extinguishers at one of our rental properties that they just had inspected.
