However, SF and LA are both really expensive markets, and so I've been drawn to, more recently, out of state investing.My aunt has been purchasing properties SW Florida for the past three years, and has been very enthusiastic about it.

Prices are going up and I suspect Columbus is still early in its recovery, but you don't want to jump in enthusiastically at the end of a rapid ascent.
