Don't worry about the driveway (clean it up, get rid of all weeds, stains, etc, I think it'll be fine), instead do a nice, welcoming walk up to the entry.You need either a portico above the stoop, or at least a pergola extending from the house (much cheaper), above the approach to the entry door.
