I won't go too technical, but just so you know, the heat exchanger is a "metal box" that contains the gas burner and exhaust fumes inside the metal box.

It sounds like you can add a coil w/condenser and zone the system.

The big black insulated one will go to your circuit breaker panel or fuse box; it's there so the electrical service can use the (metal) pipe under your yard as a ground.
