You were not under any compulsion to accept their terms.Leaving it on MLS as "Active" after an offer is accepted is a violation of our MLS rules, which state that the status must be updated to "contingent" (CTG) within 24 hours after an offer is accepted, and to "under agreement" (UAG) within 24 hours after the P&S is signed.
