Meaning that they are potentially more inclined to do "quick fix" repairs instead of addressing the actual root issue of something.

It’s taken me a long time to get here and I don’t want to mess this up.I realize I have a lot of goals here that don’t seem to intertwine, and are a little all over the place.Any advice you can give me on a course of action or recommended places where I could put down roots would be much appreciated as I don’t have someone to bounce these ideas off of.

(he/she may be stating a code that doesn't apply to this house due to age etc) and I would ask for both of those...... then your only option is to fix it or lock it up, so no one but you has access to that area.While codes can be a PITA from a $$ aspect, they are often rooted in a real safety concerns, so factor that into your decision.

  :)    Gives me a heads up on routine stuff like roots, obstructions, etc, to clear.... or that I will need to dig the whole thing up because its crushed or built out of tar paper (look up "orangeburg pipe", it was a thing back in the 60s!) 

I am not a New Yorker, but have family roots there.  

I had children and needed to grown thicker roots for a bit, so took a hiatus.

If the camera shows roots or something bad , replace it before there is a problem , have them add a clean out right where it exits the house and every 40 ft there after . 

We are both originally from NYC and have roots here so I'm pretty sure I can relearn the area(we have been gone for 10+ years) with the help of local friends and family.

The garage is leaning slightly to the right - there are framing issues with the garage (resulting from wood root).
