For example, if a plumber does a sloppy job repairing a pipe and it bursts because of poor workmanship, it seems clear that my homeowner’s insurance won’t cover the cost to re-repair the pipe, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take as long as it covers the ensuing water damage more importantly.

While the Master Policy sounds interesting, and you can explain the advantage to me, what I want is exactly as you describe the umbrella policy, increased liability coverage so a suit on one property does not endanger the others without having each in separate LLCs with all the ensuing paperwork and cost that entails.

Same guy gave me a bid for cabinets, for my new construction and was $300 cheaper than my last guy AND includes an additional island and I don't have to spray them.The time all that would have taken me and the potential divorce that would have ensued, I'll lose the dollars any day lol.

It's never an "everyone" or "all" is guilty of these charges, but the industry makes it extremely difficult to trust them when they make jokes like the joke that goes more/less like "take a look at all our yachts in the harbor and then someone asks where are the clients' yachts (ensue uncontrollable laughter)".
