In a recent flood where river water rose to 5" above my garage lowest elevation I used a $75 sump pump from The Home Depot connected to it a 5/8" garden hose and dump it into a storm drain (which actually drains back out to the river).  

In my area that much shade on the roof promotes moss which shrinks roof life.  

Over time, as more seeds are planted, if I tend the garden well I expect increasing harvests every year.When the harvests are bountiful enough to meet my expenses, plus a fair amount of excess, then that would be a good time to leave the 9 to 5 if I choose to.Not in any hurry, my job is very secure, pays well, and I can do it as long as need be.

As applies to us - we're not fans of huge cities - smaller 'homey' cities are more our vibe - ones that we could invest in yet easily live outside of and have a bit of land for gardening/blacksmithing and general outdoor pursuits.

I always use it to open mail, cut broccoli from my garden, etc.

I bought it as an old run down garden flea bag motel.

I have a few deals in Winter Garden and near Ocala and I am not as familiar with those areas as I am with Orlando. 

I got great exposure learning how to paint, do landscaping and gardening work, use power tools when I was older (and simple hand tools when I was younger).

Situation: Got water in the garden unit of a 3-flat investment property about a week ago, got a new cast iron 3/4 hp sump pump, confirmed that it worked.
