Now there may be local laws that still apply depending on where you are and like all legislation it can change.  

You cannot legislate or force land lords to take a loss on an investment.

Last year a rent control bill was drafted, at the state level, and this is a long legislative session year so its likely to pass considering the number of renters far outweighs the number of investors.

I think the main draw is that we have a panel of attorneys and people who worked with the DRE on the legislation and regs as presenters.There are many who will just rely on their attorney's interpretation of this, and if their attorney is right, they're in great shape!

We will be working to try to affect this law in other legislative ways, but cannot hope to gain traction unless our members have clearly communicated that they are opposed to this portion of the rules.

Of course your options are limited, however, new legislation makes life a little easier.
