That's an enormous amount of trust (and money) to leave in the hands of strangers.

Well, since you already stated you have an attorney, I'd suggest talking to them and following their advice.Asking random strangers on the internet is a distant second place option.  

There are many sites as well, but from someone who's house hacked by the room for several years... you definitely want to have a friend of a friend and not a stranger, if possible

Otherwise, I second what everyone else says and do the same Due Diligence you would on a stranger.

However, they do have private lenders who are mere strangers (deep pockets-high rollers) willing to invest based on one's credibility, other factors and the property deal presented.

Everyone made friends and they all started as strangers.

In my own case, I'm only considering ways to make money that don't involve calling strangers and begging for business.

Seems that there is a segment of the market totally OK with sleeping with strangers.
