I think it's a horrendous practice but there is legal precedent with documentary film makers who make millions selling depictions of illegal acts (rape, murder, genocide, rioting, assault, etc....).

Supposedly they are nuke proof and a safe place to go for the next riot coming to a neighborhood near you!

What is your outlook for the city at this point with the riots and all?  

Also am curious as to the very sad recent riots that perhaps quite a lot of people may try to sell and move away to different areas and therefore flood market with new sales - thoughts / comments????

I agree with what you said about the east side of the city proper being a dicey place to invest (if you want to know the historical reasons why people have this attitude, do a little reading about the Hough riots in 1966).

With the limited time I have to search, st Louis and Cleveland Ohio have caught my eye due to the available properties and the cash flow, however being near riots and a city that is slowly loosing population are giving me second thoughts. 

@Mason Hjelmeland, sorry to say, but I'd advise you get legal counsel from an experienced l/t attorney.It is a sticky wicket, in part because you don't mention if he was just arrested or convicted, or what his incarceration entails.Was he by any chance rioting?  

I am certain that it can be traced back to the race riots, but unlike the rest of the country, the Detroit metro never moved on.

That was the area where the riots in Milwaukee happened 2016.

  :)there are turn key operators in Japan.. you can buy rentals there for 30 to 50k that meet the 1% rule or more.. they will live there a life time and you have next to zero issues with those tenants compared to the US tenant base.. they are respectful of authority.. just look at pictures of fukishima and NO looting no rioting. all lined up nicely to get water.. then look at pictures of New Orleans during Katrina.. it was a free for all blood bath on many levels..
