In lease + option, there is no connection.The isolation, however, has less to do with eviction than it does in the question of ownership.Rent-to-own creates an equitable interest and establishes fractional ownership.Lease + option does not.

I've seen people divide up the utility monthlies by a fraction (e.g. 50/50 or 33/67 depending on size of Mother-in-law), but I think tools that monitor individual usage of utilities could make life a lot simpler (ex: monitoring water use for Mother-in-law bathroom's shower, sinks in bathroom and shower, and electricity from MIL kitchen and lights/plugs etc.)
