If you never had wood shop in school, I suggest you have someone with you when trying to operate a router, table saw of chop saw until you can do it safely, these tools can really bite hard.

The easiest, fastest, safest way to do this for you and your family member would be to find a licensed RE broker, with mortgage experience, and ask them to explain how to do this or do it for you.
