Lots of places do not provide microwaves or have dishwashers.

Without knowing what your kitchen looks like it's hard to suggest but I generally prefer to install an over the range microwave instead of a vent hood.

I'm 50 years old and don't remember electricity going out for more than a minute or two -- enough to make the digital clock on the microwave need to be re-set -- since I was child.

Put up a camera even if its fake.If you lock the breaker boxes, then you will get a call to unlock it whenever a breaker trips (like when they plug in the hairdryer on the circuit where their microwave is already running).If they are going after the copper, locking the panels won't stop them; you can see holes get punched in walls in lots of places where the copper thieves have hit.

I've told new tenants that washer/dryer/dishwasher/microwave were left by previous tenants and if they break, they will not be replaced.
