Thinking carriage style to get parking on first floor.

This purchase is one price for two properties on two separate parcels, a primary residence for myself and a carriage house that is divided into three rental units.

With regards to the lot next door, if it's too small to build a house/sell to a builder then maybe look into building a garage/carriage house with a 1 bed unit above the garage for additional rental income.Is your only goal to pay down debt or is it to also build up a rental property portfolio? 

There are agents out there that understand what a "house hack" is and can look for what you need specifically: basements that are unfinished, house with a carriage house, unfinished extra large shed on the property that can be renovated, etc.

For instance, it advocated for opening up more areas to ADUs or carriage houses.
