I was just up to Abilene recently and was blown away by how many single family homes Abilene Christian University owns around the university and the amounts that they  charge students for these.

@Joe Villeneuve and @George P. and @Christian Hutchinson would be able to chime in on this one much better as they would have much much more experience with banks.Though I see the reasoning for portfolio loan against the LLC, you would still need to post up a personal guarantee on the loan ( i believe) so not really sure what the benefit is...

@Christian Garcia From my experience, the number one red flag with Private and/or Hard Money Lenders is junk fees and large pre-payment penalties hidden in the fine writing.
