If you were banned, it's very likely that multiple users reported it as Spam (our users are VERY sensitive to this) and as a result, there was a ban.

Read what Dawn mentioned, if you post in a restricted area you'll limit the responses, that's not to say posting profits or personal data can't be better done in a restricted area, saying if you want questions asked or analysis you might keep it more open, depends on how sensitive the information is.
