Using an existing portal is certainly easier, but costs more.

Here in Asheville, all of the communication is now done via e-mail and a portal to upload plans.

They have a great portal for owners.

This was probably about 7 years ago and the tenant paid the merchant directly through a portal provided by the vendor where we did not accept the info.  

It has a tenant facing portal with individual logins for tenants to pay rent and report maintenance requests.
