Interesting read here.We just usually rotate the locks.We buy the cheap stuff.A cop told me with the deadbolts if a perp wants to get in they are getting in.The best thing is to call right away so they can catch them or work the case.Often people call a day or a few hours later and at that point the cop can't do as much.We don't have ultra expensive doors so the tenants add extra lighting and some put in house alarms etc.

I have stayed in many STR's here in CA with pools and I rarely (if ever) see any of these on or around the pool area (latches, fences, approved pool covers, alarms, etc).

I think your best bet given labor shortage that are hitting many vacation markets is to have a great relationship with your cleaner, and make sure you take care of them during the holidays.The other thing we do is have a handyman go through our properties 1x per month to replace filters, test fire alarms, and look for any other issues that might need attention.Mike
