Popular Tourist Areas?

I was wondering what others in this area typically do.Mine is not on the beach and is more suited for a family rather than a tourist spot so it puts me in an awkward position as Myrtle is of course a tourist attraction.

Living in a destination location full of tourists has given me opportunity to purchase and hold potentially great rental/Air BnB properties.

The property is located in a tourist area and is lakefront, but seller had as their 2nd home.   

However this new duplex is in a small town in central MN (lake/cabin town for local tourists) so a little more of a risk in terms of the STR demand.  

@Tim B.There is no “waiting period” for a STR if it is located in the Tourist Core zones area of the City of South Lake Tahoe.

However it's a small tourist town and the seasons are fickle with respect to local conditions, so there is a chance it would be difficult to rent, it's hard to estimate.   

If not, seems that the rental world is confined to catering to tourists unless something substantial changes. 

What kind of returns can an LP get on a well-run hotel of say 50 rooms, in a hot tourist market?
