I don't see how you could stop this unless you have good connections in this industry and can really attract that talent away from your competitor. 

I love when a customer shows me a competitors bid and tells me " Beat this price and the job is yours"    ..........  

Business go south and will vacate the space, storefronts close because of online competitors, people work from home, or vacate restaurant spaces to own a food truck, etc etc..  

The square footage this staircase saved made the bedroom on that floor much larger than any competitor’s home could offer with a traditional staircase.

There's always competitors in the market place.

If your competitors have it, you need to as well.Locating some "extra" or discontinued pieces could save you a bunch and locating a great installer who can do the labor for cheaper is the second half of that equation.

If your competitors are renting units for $700 including garbage and gas, you are now priced $90 higher.
