This reduces grease build up on the kitchen surfaces, if the tenants use the fan.Otherwise, yeah - it's a bit goofy.If you were doing a remodel, you could move the dishwasher to the other side of the sink, move the fridge to that end of that wall, and move the stove so it is centered between two cabinets.Another option would be to do all that plus replace the stove with built-in oven(s) and place a cooktop on the island and a vent hood over it.
