A so called marriage.

This includes but is not limited to marriage licenses, divorce settlements, child support, liens, bankruptcies, or judgments.

In the definition section of the Code of Ordinances, the definition of family is as follows: “One or more persons related by blood, adoption, or marriage, or not more than two (2) unrelated persons living and cooking together as a single housekeeping unit.”

As for the “she would get half if we divorce”.....she would get half anyway, FL divides up assets acquired after marriage 50/50 in the event of a divorce.  

Sorry, that's human nature and no set of laws changes that.I want to preface this by saying that I LOVE that you and your wife have been so successful in marriage for so long.

I use the analogy it’s like a marriage.  

Also, I'm not entirely sure from reading the post whether the assets are separate property or community property and just only one of you is on title, but even though you live in California which is a community property state, you can still have separate property within your marriage.
