It would stink to live on the East Coast, get a consulting job on the West Coast and have a 6-hour plane ride every time you had to go into the office.Texas is seeing some pretty strong growth, but it's also immense, so there are places you can go, still be near an airport, and invest for cash flow if that's your thing.The problem with the center of the country is that it runs very red politically.

I also am a newbie, hailing from Indiana. 

In return, I only ask that they ride in the passenger seat and help me not to make any wrong turns.

If she says we'll my lock malfunctioned and I couldn't get in she still should have called you prior to attempting to break door down to gain access.In my opinion she is  responsible for the damage she caused to the door and I'd charge her.I'd take photo's if she says shes not going to pay.. let it ride till she moves out and take damages from security deposit. 

I have grit and talent that I can share but other than that, I'm a green real estate investor through and through and am in dire need of a real estate "friend/mentor" looking for a fun, crazy and wild ride.

I would suggest at least riding by the home so that you can see how the neighborhood held up and if there's any clear signs of damage.

I'd love to ride out this RC in SF as long as I can, so I can continue to save/invest.  

People are generally very nice in sharing their expertise, but when you start shadowing and riding along with people you want to make sure you are making it worth their while.

But the south Bronx 139th st train station is an extremely short ride to grand central.
